John-Kåre Hansen (born 1978) from Alta, is a Norwegian and Sami guitarist, songwriter, composer and producer.
Hansen holds a master's degree in jazz music and performing arts.
Hansen's musical roots lie in jazz, Sami and improvisational music. The focus of the music is his strong melodies and a warm guitar tone.
Together with the group Nest, he received the Liveprisen 2012 for best song. In 2019, he received the award for Composer of the Year at the Sami Music Awards.
He has written several commissioned works, including the piece "Áigi - Reflections of Time" for Hemnesjazz's 25th anniversary in 2021.
Hansen has also published many song lyrics and has set a number of Sami poems by Nils-Aslak Valkeapää to music, which were released on Ánnásuolo's debut album, Ánnásuolo. He has collaborated with and written compositions and arrangements for a number of orchestras and choirs, even arranging hip-hop songs for strings for the Swedish-Sami artist Maxida.
He now tours with his 2022-album project Finnmark Fantasia, holding concerts both in Norway and abroad.
