With the changing landscape of music, the prominence of voices from the disenfranchised has become a lot more audible, none more so than Isatta Sheriff an MC, a rapper, producer and songwriter who began in an era where pirate and unlicensed radio stations were the only place you could be heard. With time and growth, she has developed from a firebrand to an eloquent voice of not only the city (London) but also of a generation.
With work ranging from features for Flying Lotus, Oddisee, Arrested Development to Athletic Progression, Wretch 32, Saul Williams, Koralle and Moo Latte, she consistently showcases a blend of lyricism, consciousness and sound production. Radio play (including BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, and BBC Radio 1Xtra) and live performances have all served as a platform much deserved and worked for.
Isatta’s self-produced EP ‘A Kind Of Biography’ was released in 2021 on her newly formed label Doctored Sound, where she also released four new act’s to the UK scene on the compilation “The Miseducation of the Insta Generation” in April 2022. July will also see Isatta release new material with the Italian producer Koralle via the German based label Melting Pot, gearing it up to be an exciting year for the “masterful mc” (Mary Anne Hobbs).
