Multifaceted rapper J Carlyle started writing songs at the ages of 15 where he begin his career off as a Grime MC. He always loved music as a child and grew up watching MTV and listening to old school dub and lovers rock where he learnt to understand the emotions behind songs from different genres. The artists he looks up to vary “as much as I love Vybz Kartel I can appreciate all good much but reggae, dancehall and R&B is where my heart is”
2020 saw J Carlyle release his debut EP “Calculating the Ifs” which has surpassed 50k streams across DSP’s, securing notable personal Spotify playlists and receiving over 10k listening per month.
The single “Man of Action” started off as an 8 bar loop “but the sound just provoked me to just make a statement of intent” this went on to lends itself to the title of the single.
The future for J Carlyle consists of more music spread across different genres and collaborations with his end goal to leave a positive impact in the world.
