Starkiller is the new EP by J. Laser aka Jordan Lawlor
His first offering of new music since 2020’s self-titled EP although he’s been
keeping busy as a producer and mixer in the years in between, lending his
services to artists such as Asher Moss, Friend of a Friend and Tove Lo as well
as building his own recording studio in the high Mojave desert
Best known for his work with M83 wherein he was drafted as multi
instrumentalist as a teenager and collaborating as a producer on 2016’s Junk
before parting ways in 2018 to pursue his own project
The Starkiller EP is a tribute to the classic producer/artists of previous eras
such as Brian Eno and Todd Rundgren, known for making their most far-out
recordings when left to their own devices in between producing for other
artists
Starkiller is brief glimpse into a dense world of technicolor synths, mutated
guitars and thunderous drums. Each element meticulously crafted to flow like
a sonic mandala. Lawlor performed, produced and mixed every note of the
EP, The result is a selection of songs to both bend the mind and pull the
heartstrings
