J. Lim

New York rapper and singer/songwriter J. Lim's songs hit many of hip hops sub-genres. His introspective lyrics often reflect on his experiences with depression, relationships, drug use, his sexuality and growing up without a father. His music highlights often highlights his issues of trust, struggles to love himself and other deep rooted issues. Though his topics usually have a deeper meaning, he will sometimes create songs about his work ethic or his worldly desires.

Born in Queens NY in 1996, given the name Joseph Lim, he found himself listening to artists from J. Cole to Logic, Drake and more. With little music experience, he began writing in high school to deal with, what was later diagnosed as, bipolar disorder. He later attended Indiana University, which is where he first discovered he was bisexual. During college, he kept his passion for writing as a side gig, as his competitive side strived to land a job in quantitative finance. However, half a year in to his dream job, he quit in hopes to make a career in music.

J. Lim is driven by inspiring others and wants to show other people that they can achieve whatever they want, no matter their background. He wants to be a voice for both Asian Americans and the LGBT community.
