International producer, arranger, songwriter and composer J. Michaels (aka Elder) is no stranger to music. He grew up playing drums and bass in church and working with many gospel artists such as Andrae Crouch, The Winans, Vickie Winans, Tramaine Hawkins, Richard Smallwood, Vernessa Mitchell and a host of others.

Before you knew it, he was doing work as a session musician and producing in various major studios for a wide range of artists including Immature, Montego, TCF Crew and Skin deep. He worked with and learned from the likes of the late Wayne Brathwaite, Dave Darlington and Yogi Horton. Producers Barry Eastman and Skip Anderson were a major influence in his early career. At the start of the 90's, he landed a position on the production team of producer Rahni Song and became part of the Rahni Song production network as well as drummer for contemporary Gospel group Kingdom.

After a period of “retirement” from the business, J. started a new production company “Coast 2 Coast Music Group LLC” (C2C) along with Tampa based “Saxophonist” Marlon Boone which he produced two hit singles for, “Sunset East” & “Let’s Get Away.”  Both songs have earned J. a finalist award in the "World Songwriting Award" contest as well as making Billboard, the Smooth Jazz Network top 100, Smooth Jazz Indie charts and many other charts overseas.

J.’s first single “Night Grooves” will be released on the C2C label on September 28, 2021 which features guitarist Dave Howard and vocalist Yvonne J.
