Jasper Eckert has had the nickname Jaapur since his sister would mispronounce his name at a young age. He came up with the spelling after trying to find a username for the popular video game Runescape in 2007. Jasper found music at an age as early as 3 years old, banging on a guitar. He took piano lessons at the age of 7, and began drumming at 9. Once he found that music could be made with a computer, Jasper began prolifically releasing electronic albums on Bandcamp. Between his start in 2011 and finally joining DistroKid in 2017, Jasper accumulated over 24 project releases on Bandcamp, and SoundCloud.
