Jacob Ruttenberg is a NYC-based, born, and raised musician. While music has framed every second of Ruttenberg’s life, he did not start writing until 2017 while he was living at his grandmother’s farm in rural Pennsylvania and working at a local nut factory (fasteners, not food). His music and lyrics draw on the unique experience of having grown up in New York City, living directly thereafter in relative isolation, and subsequent re-immersion into city life.
Drawing musical inspiration from artists from Lou Reed to David Byrne to Townes van Zandt, Ruttenberg’s music reflects on the purpose, love, friendship, family, and fear that in part defines one’s coming of age.
Jacob Ruttenberg is releasing his first album under his own name in 2025 and is planning tour dates for the spring.
