Jan Mazura is an award-winning Czech composer and pianist with a deep love for jazz, a genre he explored at Berklee College of Music. However, his work reflects a wide-ranging taste, blending influences from jazz, classical, world music, pop and many other contemporary styles.
Over the years, Jan has written original compositions and arrangements for solo piano as well as for ensembles of all shapes and sizes—from jazz bands and string quartets to full big bands with strings (<a href="spotify:artist:6dQ611TKYtV2WMT6IPJfiS" data-name="Concept Art Orchestra">Concept Art Orchestra</a>). He has orchestrated a low-budget American musical for <a href="spotify:artist:2AOHGM5TXhDtFZuxWz9cdG" data-name="Nizar Fares">Nizar Fares</a>, performed at many venues across Europe, from Romania to Spain, and also worked intensively as a music journalist.
Now based in Prague, he teaches at the Jaroslav Jezek Conservatory, constantly seeking fresh and innovative ways to educate both young musicians and adults. Having lived in Spain and the U.S., Jan brings a global perspective to his music and teaching.
