JANiNA is a Norwegian duo that moves in a landscape between organic guitar-based pop rock to electronic synth pop, seasoned with elements from both country, indie, folk and metal. When vocalist Nina Grobstok Fuglesang and guitarist Jan Møinichen met in 2018, they quickly found that despite very different musical backgrounds, they had a unique musical chemistry. They started performing together and soon after they started writing their own songs. Sources of inspiration ranging from London Grammar and Brandi Carlile to Type O Negative.
JANiNA released their debut single Alone in 2020 under their own label @JANiNA and continued producing and releasing music. The recordings so far have been made in The Norwegian Sound studio in collaboration with producer Peter Michelsen, co-owner and member of @Donkeyboy
These days they are working on an EP in their own studio with a quite different sound from previously released songs, which will hopefully be released sometime in 2025.
JANiNA wants to convey experienced stories, considerations and real feelings through their songs, preferably for recognition and comfort for others. Nina is known for her distinctive and dynamic vocals, which range from delicately melancholic to full and powerful with an edge. Their music has been played on Norwegian, Italian and Australian radio and receives good reviews from listeners, radio hosts and curators.
