Jarecki Jazz Octet

JARECKI JAZZ OCTET - is a newly created concert project on the Polish jazz music market. It is a band composed of musical individuals, winners of national and international competitions, who create a coherent musical whole on the stage. The leader of the group is Jan Jarecki, a pianist and composer who set himself the goal of writing completely new pieces for an eight-person ensemble, consisting of five wind instruments and a rhythm section. The uniqueness of this project is proved by the fact that it is the only jazz octet in Poland with such instruments. Stylistically, the musical material of the octet is a synthesis of swing, groove, romantic ballads, afrocuban elements, improvisation and modern sound, inspired by the orchestras of Maria Schneider or Gil Evans. The stage experience of all members of the band, as well as the leader's compositional and arrangement ideas, resulted in the debut album titled "EP: Extended Products”. The album was recorded at the end of December 2021 and released May 12th 2023 via Challenge Records.
