Jason McCue is an indie-folk and alternative rock songwriter. After moving to Seattle for college, Jason gained musical notoriety for competing and placing first in the 2017 MoPOP Sound Off! Competition for Pacific Northwest artists who are 21 and under.
After graduating from Seattle University in 2018, Jason packed up his guitar, stuffed his suitcase into a Toyota Corolla, and started touring to every corner of the continental U.S. – right up until the pandemic hit. Much akin to the stories of other touring musicians during this time, Jason canceled his remaining dates on the road, packed everything up, and made the long drive home from Colorado.
During the throes of lockdown, Jason wrote and recorded the songs that would comprise his new album: Screen, Turn On. When the world turns off, it seems like every interaction, every feeling, every disaster, and every beautiful thing can fall into one of two categories: something that’s on a screen and something that’s not.
Screen, Turn On is a celebration of what’s not on a screen. It’s about friends, family, and the love that exists between it all. It’s a single drop of positivity in an ocean full of notifications and pixels. It’s a message to loved ones that, even though the sky is falling down, a friend will have another friend’s back.
