Jay Cass, born Jonathan Casanova, has grown a great deal since starting his beat making career at the age of 9.  Having an older brother who was also a producer, Jay found his footing from following in his footsteps.  In 2008, a mixtape titled “Let’s Be Honest” launched his music into the masses.  A tape in which he produced, recorded, and engineered entirely himself.  Since then, Jonathan’s love of music has helped transform his sound into what it is today.  He notes sounds from Black Milk, J Dilla, Disclosure, and Kaytranda, as a few artists found in his honey pot of inspiration.

Jonathan has been known to get behind the microphone and share his voice on numerous projects.  Although, his love for production can be seen in the many beat tape he’s had to follow such as “Anybody” written about a lost love, “Sweet Thang” which was West Coast and G funk inspired, and “Moonchild”, dark synth trap inspired.  Each song and project displays an adamant connection between his emotions and mental state.  His sound can best be described as “Black House”, a hybrid between electronic house music and hip hop.
