Jaye Locke is a producer and musician who makes dance-influenced alternative R&B for listeners to catch a groove to — whether they’re already shutting down the floor or slowly (but surely) getting their backs off the wall.
Creating primarily out of his home studio in Los Angeles, Jaye throws himself into every record he crafts: not only those of his collaborators but those he calls his own, too. For Jaye, producing isn’t about following “hit” formulas or linking and building with big names; instead, his philosophy of production is centered on people, craft, and feeling. Despite the disfigured state of music today, Jaye believes real art can never be distilled down to who you know or what your numbers are. So he chooses to collaborate with those who have similar intentions — to make music for the sheer love of music.
With this in mind, Jaye sets out to make his studio a safe space for all musicians to share their stories, ideas, and lived experiences comfortably. When he’s not teaming up with artists for their own projects, he’s constantly shaping the Jaye Locke sound through his own artistic endeavor, an electro-R&B artist-producer project for fans of Kaytranada, Calvin Harris, and Rochelle Jordan.
