JayPitts is an independent artist from Detroit, MI. He pulls inspiration from Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Andre 3000 and Lauryn Hill, which can be heard in his artistry. And like his inspirations, he likes to experiment with sub-genres of hip-hop, but never compromising his artistic approach which holds strong throughout his releases.
Jay got his first spike in engagement from his project “Highly Melanated” which has over 5 million streams worldwide on Spotify, with “Windows” being a fan favorite after going viral on TikTok. “Windows” was also featured on the NBAs official playlist and recognized by Ebro Darden on his Apple Music Beats 1 segment.
In 2021, Cj teamed up with Odyssey Entertainment Group, and released an experimental EP called, “Jay Against the Galaxy”. Black Tesla was a favorite among many, and in addition had over 6000 videos made to the sound on TikTok. Thanks to Tracy OJ, Keke and The Williams Familly doing a choreographed dance created by Tracy OJ.
Later, in 2022, Jay released his debut album “Minimum Wage“. This body of work is soulfully inspired, and a cohesive illustration of Jay’s struggle and perseverance. Jay took a noticeably more vulnerable approach on this record, and even had his hand in the production of the album.
Currently, JayPitts continues to release music consistently, adding to his timeless records and ever-growing fan base.
