Born and bred in Blackpool, and taking inspiration from a wide and eclectic pool of influences, Jekyll's music is known for its expansive, melancholic soundscapes, dynamic mood shifts and visceral intensity.
While appearing at The Great Escape Festival 2018, Jekyll were signed on the spot by the prestigious ‘Fierce Panda’ (Coldplay, Placebo, Keane etc.). During their first few months on the label, Jekyll released a string of successful singles, which were all championed by Huw Stephens (R1), Jack Saunders (R1), Daniel P Carter (R 1), Steve Lamacq (6Music), John Kennedy (RadioX). In addition to this, Jekyll were invited to record a live session for BBC Radio 1/Huw Stephens in London’s Maida Vale Studios, with the team there remarking that it was the best session they’d had all year! Jekyll were included in Huw Stephens’ ‘Best Of The Year’ show in 2019 and had their session named ‘Best of 2019’!
Following this, Jekyll set about creating an EP to really capture what the band was truly about. This EP became ‘The Whispering Gallery’ (named after a Thomas Hardy poem), a sentimental and sincere exploration of grief, love and spirituality, told with heartbreaking honesty. The Whispering Gallery was met with overwhelming praise from fans, industry and press.
With appearances at SXSW, Y Not, The Great Escape, Liverpool Sound City, Tramlines Festival, Threshold Festival and multiple sold-out shows, Jekyll's momentum is fierce and their immediate future is looking very bright.
