Jesse “JTJazz'' Thompson is an Ohio native who is a prolific composer, energetic musician, and music director. Being the son of a father who was a professional jazz drummer and a mother who was a church organist/pianist, JT got his gift naturally and started playing the drums as his first instrument at the age of 5 years old. By the time JT was 12 years old, he played a total of 13 instruments with piano being one of them. JT, was not only musically influenced by his parents but also by his oldest brother Marvyn Wheatley who recorded and played with Dayton’s own R&B group Slave. In addition, during that time JT would always be with his brothers who would hang out in the studio with artists like: Slave, Roger Troutman & Zapp, and others which further ignited him in making the choice to make and perform music.
JT is a diverse musician with a primary jazz/urban genre. His style mixes guts and glory with his multitude of approaches to the keys. JT’s music would be described as a sound that is smooth, soulful, melodic, groovy, and straight from the heart. Great influences like George Duke, Joe Sample, Herbie Hancock, Alex Bugnon, Jeff Lorber, Bob James, and others who play a major influence in his musical life which makes JT’s creation and music-ability a unique style of its own.
JT’s latest single, “Late Nite” features Judah Sealy & teamed with Billboard charting artist Adam Hawley as the Co-Writer, Producer on this project. Check out JT on various projects across the globe.
