JF Robitaille is a Canadian musician, born and raised in Montreal and now living in London, UK. He has released four albums and has performed as a solo artist for over 15 years. Prior to that, he was the lead singer of indie-rock band The Social Register.
Robitaille was discovered in 2006 in NYC by Nona Hendryx (of Labelle fame), who released his solo debut "The Blood In My Body" on her Rhythmbank label. The album was produced by Howard Bilerman (ArcadeFire) and Brian Paulson (Beck). Critically acclaimed, the record led to multiple tours and opening slots for artists such as St. Vincent and Jonathan Richman. Upon its release, Exclaim magazine wrote “Robitaille could rise to be a Leonard Cohen for the new age; but with optimism, melody and a prettier voice.”
His follow up album, Calendar, led to more international touring and festival appearances such as Reeperbahn, Pop Montreal and NXNE, as well as heavy rotation on Canadian college radio.
In 2013 Robitaille signed to Sparks/Universal who put out his next two albums in partnership with V2 Records in Europe. His 4th album, Palace Blues, featured the single “Missing You”, a duet with Julie Doiron, which reached #4 on the CBC national charts.
In 2017 Robitaille teamed up with British singer-songwriter Lail Arad, releasing a string of singles and touring extensively throughout Europe. Their songs were recently featured in the movie Tripped Up (Universal) and their full length duo album “Wild Moves” is out now.
