Youtuber/Author/Sound Designer who constantly spreads the message of peace and positive energy. Ohio bred grew up in Cleveland but currently based in Atlanta, GA the keyboardist/beatsmith has been crafting beats since the 90s.
Developed an ear for music through both parents. His mother played piano and was the Minister of Music at their church, and his Pops had a healthy stash of funk, jazz, and soul vinyl records as if he was a deejay. Eventually picked up the piano since it was there in the house and tried to mimic songs heard on vinyl, radio, tv, ect. Started sequencing beats on a cheap Casio keyboard in high school as well as play keys for church and various bands previous to finding out about sampling years later. Fast forward.......
Now JFilt is considered by many subscribers of his youtube channel a MPC master teacher. Being the curator of a facebook group called WeDoBeats which is a beat making community of likeminded producers/beat makers, he's always working to uplift and encourage others. His style is a gumbo of boombap, lofi, electronic funk, with a touch of jazzy soulful sickness. If you wanna learn how to make very sick beats check out https://youtube.com/verysickbeats
Influences include:
Ahmad Jamal, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, QTip, RZA, JDilla, and too many more to name....
Weapons of choice:
MPC2000XL, SP404sx, SP303, MPC500, LOGIC Pro X steez
