Ingvi Þór Kormáksson (Reykjavik) and John Soul (Oxford, UK) met in Iceland 1993 and soon began writing music together. In 1994 they made their first album, 'Hungry for News', with JJ Soul Band and 'City Life' in 1997. On both albums the music is many-sided; Blues, R&B, Fusion, Rock, Pop and Latin, sometimes all in one (blues-confusion?). Singer/songwriter JJ Soul is from UK, but Ingvi is from Iceland as the rest of the band. The band mainly served as a vehicle for the songwriting team. The band's third album was 'Reach for the Sky' (2002).
JJ Soul Band's fourth album, 'Bright Lights' was released in July 2008. The music is a strange brew of Blues, Jazz, AC and Rock, a sort of Blues-(con)Fusion, partly inspired by such artists as Mose Allison, Georgie Fame, Ben Sidran and Steely Dan.
All four albums received excellent reviews and quite a lot of awards from various songwriting competitions. An EP with two almost forgotten tracks was published 2020. John (JJ) Soul passed away 2020.
