JLan is a hip-hop artist from the small town of Malagash, Nova Scotia, whose sound blends raw lyricism, east coast grit, and musical versatility. Raised on classic hip-hop and alt-rock, his early influences range from 2Pac, DMX, Nas, and Wu-Tang Clan to Korn, Green Day, and Limp Bizkit—shaping a style that pushes boundaries while staying true to his roots.
Born with hearing loss, JLan started creating his own lyrics before fully understanding others', developing his writing skills early. By 17, he was recording and battling on underground sites like DaBeetz, using a computer mic to sharpen his flow. After moving to Halifax, he teamed up with artist CJ (aka Zeakeo) from Cherry Brook, spending countless nights in the studio learning to master his craft.
Now back in Malagash after time in Ottawa, JLan continues to evolve, bringing energy, emotion, and realness to every track. Inspired by artists like Joyner Lucas, his music reflects resilience, storytelling, and east coast pride—representing Nova Scotia to the fullest.
