JØAN is the badass, superhero alter ego of the colorful indie pop duo Roseport, brought to you by Chelsea Marie Davis and Shani Rose.


JØAN’s dark pop fuses edgy synths, beats, and electro-orchestral elements (ala Ruelle) with empowering lyrics inspired by strong female songwriters like PINK, Katy Perry, and Lizzo.


In 2017, Rose and Davis found themselves in a crucible of personal struggle. Tired of having her voice ignored in the male-dominated music industry, Rose decided to take a risk and lead-produce her second solo album. Davis was going through a painful divorce. For both women, playing “nice” wasn’t cutting it, and their happy, upbeat Roseport music couldn’t capture their struggle.


Through the fire, Rose and Davis forged a powerful new voice in life and music: JØAN. They wrote their way into a new story of fierce empowerment, one song at a time.


Their first three singles spent a combined 30 weeks on UK’s Indie Top 39 chart, and earned IndieTop39's #1 Song of 2020 for “Lights in the Shadows,” co-produced by Rose. “Born Brave” has over a million hits on YouTube.
