Joel Fausto & Illusion Orchestra is a Dark Jazz and Noir-Cinematic project from Portugal, blending slow, atmospheric jazz with haunting ambient and film-noir textures.
Bringing nightmares since 2008, the project has built a cult following through its shadowy sound and storytelling approach. With five albums, two EPs and some film soundtrack works, Fausto's music is generally characterised by a frightening emotions through obsessions, fear, death, love, paranoia and surrealistic scenarios, themes of mystery, memory and late-night introspection.
His work has appeared in several film soundtracks and curated compilations, including "Twin Peaks: Isn't Too Dreamy?", "Berlin Hustle" and "Blood's a Rover".
From 2017 to 2018, he presented a handful of rare performances throughout Portugal, Hungary, Austria and Czechia, each one echoing the same quiet, an immersive performative atmosphere that defines his recordings.
