John William Richard

Often things come full circle. As a child John William Richard’s love affair with music began as a classically trained musician, with hours spent studying both the piano and cello. However a lifetime has been spent elsewhere, from, amongst other things, fronting a new romantic group, managing artists, starting a label and running a nightclub. John William Richard returned to the rigour of the Classical tradition with his first album, Song For A Ghost, mixing that with flashes of contemporary electronica, creating something that is both intimate and breathtakingly cinematic.

Since then he has released the beguiling journey of life spoken word album, 'Almost Hollywood', and taken it out on the road to great effect.

Next up is a stripped back, almost demo-like album, ‘From My Room’ off which his latest release, Travelling Light, is out on August 14th 24. The album is out in late 2024 and is written, recored and mixed entirely by the artist himself. There is another album, ‘Fables’, out in Spring 25 which will see a return to a slightly bigger production working with some really good people as well.

Apparently there is a 5th album now in the works for release in autumn 2025. More shows and more fun! So where does this all come from?

To be honest JWR thinks in music first and the accompanying images that support their creation. He is looking forward to releasing these next albums and playing as much it live next year to perhaps explain better how they came to be.
