Self-Proclaimed Rockstar, Johnny Austin, was born and raised as Jonathan Dean Thelin in Provo, Utah, but chose Central, Texas as his permanent home. Johnny blends an array of genres in creating his signature 'Texas Rockin Roll' sound. Starting out listening to the Beach Boys at the tender age of 3, & learning to play the guitar, influenced by The Beatles, at the dawn of his teenage years, Johnny embarked on his musical journey during the earliest stages of his life.
Influenced by iconic music artists such as MJ, McCartney, Mayer, Prince, Sting, Bono, Garth, Grohl, Keith of the Urbans, Jack of The Stripes & Dan of the Keys, Johnny traveled the country contributing his bass & guitar talents to an array of cover and original bands, starting with his first family bands HYTYDE, The Arrleys, & JDHB out of Salt Lake City, Utah & Nashville, Tennessee, followed by his brother band, LEATHERHAND, based in Austin, Texas. He is currently making music with his beautiful wife bassist in their family band, The Staylyns.
In the fall of 1999, Johnny challenged himself as a solo artist by completing production on his solo debut, "Deep Pure Passion" comprised of high school lyrics and melodies. With a plethora of clever, catchy songs, Johnny continues to record and release new & old original compositions from his home studio and performs as often as possible with his band, The Staylyns!
