Joshua Loing

They don’t call him the loneliest man in Bali for nothing.

Joshua Loing has a penchant for turning mundane songs into indie-pop pieces, filled with orchestral bells and whistles coupled with acoustic baroque elements.
His inspiration comes from John Williams’ dovetailing melody lines and Ian Felice’s witty lyrics. Loing gives a new perspective on how to incorporate an orchestral palette into acoustic melodies.

In 2018, Loing released his first solo album titled “Almost Sounds Sincere.” It was recorded in the legendary Lucretia Studio in North Denpasar. Mixed and mastered by the veteran sound engineer, Oka Arimbawa, this album is the sincerest output of Loing’s time spent honing his craft as a songwriter that knows how to utilise a wide range of tone colour generated by an orchestra.

Loing released his second album titled Strictly Platonic in early 2022. Filled with sincerity and wit alongside edgy harmonious tunes and baroque guitar solos, the songs in this album tell stories about the complexities of human sexuality and the power of memory versus experience.

In January 2023, Loing toured to Japan to promote Strictly Platonic. His music was warmly welcomed by a variety of audiences; where people from all walks of life gathered in a close live space to feel the intimate vibes of his songs. An advanced release of Strictly Platonic’s music score was also sold. People in other parts of the world can purchase it later this year.
