Born in 1973 in Derry, Northern Ireland, Josie Doherty’s passion for music has shaped a career that spans decades. Influenced by the greats of Motown and gospel—especially Aretha Franklin.
Her journey has taken her from session singing and collaborations to a defining moment in 1997 when she wrote and performed a song for Jim Sheridan’s film The Boxer. Now, with her children grown, she is stepping forward to share her own music with the world, in partnership with lifelong friend and guitarist Joe Donegan.
