Jr. Thomas, aka Thomas McDowall, is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist , vocalist and producer from Minnesota.
In 2015, Truth & Soul Records (NYC) released the debut LP ‘Beware’ with the launch of the Los Angeles based project Jr Thomas & The Volcanos. This incredible band is a collective of Southern California’s most dignified musicians, specializing in Jamaica’s “Golden Era”sound.
In 2018, Jr Thomas & The Volcanos released their follow up LP ‘Rockstone’ with Colemine Records that earned them the #1 Reggae Album on the Billboard charts the week of November 3, 2018.
Jr Thomas now owns and operates Junior Grove Recording Studios in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he resides. He has put out collaborative releases with Night Owls (F-Spot Records), Jr Thomas & Cutlass Cream (Mighty Eye Records), The Void Union ( Jump Up! Records) and Pinnacle Sound (Bat Records).
His latest collaborative effort is with Eraserhood Sound based in Philadelphia. The full length album Jr. Thomas in the Eraserhood will be released on vinyl and digital streaming platforms on September 26, 2025 via DeepMatter Records based in London.
