Born in Lyon, Julien Behr was awarded the "singers' revelation of the year" in 2009 by the French musicians' association ADAMI and was among the 3 nominees in the category "singer's revelation of the year" at the Victoires de la musique classique in 2013. He made his international debut in 2009 at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence in the title role of Offenbach's "Orphée aux Enfers". He has meanwhile performed in venues such as the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Opéra Comique, the Opéra de Lyon, the Opéra du Rhin, the Opéra de Bordeaux, the Theater an der Wien, the Mozartwoche in Salzburg, the Cologne Opera, the Theater Bern, the Vlaams Opera, the Barbican Centre in London, the Mostly Mozart in New York, the Minnesota Opera. An accomplished Mozart interpret, he made his debut at the Opéra de Paris in 2015 in the role of Tamino ("Die Zauberflöte"). He collaborates with the most prestigious orchestras and with conductors such as Alain Altinoglu, Jean-Claude Casadesus, Charles Dutoit, Laurence Equilbey, Asher Fisch, René Jacobs, Samuel Jean, Fayçal Karoui, Marc Minkowski, Raphaël Pichon, Josep Pons, Jérémie Rhorer, François-Xavier Roth, Sébastien Rouland, Leonard Slatkin, Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Nathalie Stutzmann. His first solo album, "Confidence", recorded with the Orchester of the Opéra de Lyon, has just been released under the label Alpha Classics and has already been awarded a "Diapason d'or" as well as a Qobuzissime.
