Chuck on a pair of cans, pour a shot of whisky, make yourself comfy and settle in... or, you know... just dance
Emerging with their wonderfully fresh and heartfelt debut EP ‘<a href="spotify:album:7LjVcd4p3rNQtK9DfQ6938" data-name="Late Night Luxury">Late Night Luxury</a>’ in early 2022, the Melbourne-based band quickly drew comparisons from <a href="spotify:artist:0iHb0mCbqZTYeb4y9Pirrd" data-name="Temple Of The Dog">Temple Of The Dog</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:2cCUtGK9sDU2EoElnk0GNB" data-name="The National">The National</a> through to <a href="spotify:artist:4bthk9UfsYUYdcFyqxmSUU" data-name="Tears For Fears">Tears For Fears</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:4Z8W4fKeB5YxbusRsdQVPb" data-name="Radiohead">Radiohead</a>.
Their origins kicked off when Ryan Temby (vocals, guitars), unemployed and burnt out, had his own eat, pray, love epiphany whilst on a US West Coast road trip – deciding to rescue his guitar out of storage and reconnect with his musical roots.
Temby landed at the door of long-time friend Paul Inglis (guitars/keys) after getting back on home soil – their natural synergy instantly on display from when they played together in Melbourne alt rock band <a href="spotify:artist:2Y1pl2XWu65Coz3tcTqYMI" data-name="Prettymess">Prettymess</a>. Songs were written, demo’s were recorded and <a href="spotify:artist:5818FS5j0eN7k5OWkyC6GP" data-name="Junior Bones">Junior Bones</a> was born once they caught the attention of Gavin Kerr (drums), Tom Bullock (bass) and joined the <a href="spotify:playlist:7zXrUDq89VgFIXxJufMHer" data-name="Small Sanctuary Records">Small Sanctuary Records</a> family along with <a href="spotify:artist:01MuGa2GMwjI61sHEjagqz" data-name="Alcotomic">Alcotomic</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6Iie852LO1TOUD5RwZSjRD" data-name="Five Mile Sniper">Five Mile Sniper</a>.
Their latest single, <a href="spotify:track:4NaesDLls6eTtW3qpk1Xmh" data-name="The Fallout in You">The Fallout in You</a> opens with driving drums and tremolo laden guitars paired off with a pulsing synth bass and heartfelt lyrics.
Written as a cathartic outlet for a painful breakup, it was originally seen as too emotionally charged to be shared. But the band vetoed, nurturing the original demo from an acoustic melancholic dirge into a dark "glistening danceable new-wave electronica gem" (The AU Review) that just had to be heard.
