Justin Larner picked up the guitar at the age of thirteen thinking it was the coolest thing in the world to be able to do. Raised in a house with his dad’s guitars, lesson magazines and old rock record collection it couldn’t have been any other way. With no formal one on one lessons everything was done through magazines, instructional videos and tab books. After going through a brief pop punk phase as young teenager, it was metal that became an obsession. Wild solos and people playing their instruments to the extreme of their ability was what inspired him. Joe Satriani was the first guitarist to open Justin’s eyes to the possibility of purely instrumental lead guitar based songs and from the age of 15 he had been stockpiling and writing guitar based tracks alongside his traditional band songs. These songs were kept stored away while bands came and went. Most notably the band Grand Ultra which had a run from 2009–2012 playing Bloodstock second stage 2011 and a second run from 2017–2019. From 2013 to 2019 Justin had been in a number of tribute bands playing Mick Mars, Zakk Wylde, KK Downing and all three Iron maiden guitarist’s and has played all over the UK and parts of Europe. This all came to an end when personal circumstances lead to a need to get a new day job as a truck driver and the live music had to take a back seat. In this time of reflection, it was the perfect time to revive the old material and finally make the solo album he had dreamed of making for 17 years.
