Abera Zafu (born April 22, 1997), better known by his entertainment name K1ngSam is an American rapper from the Bay Area. Born in Ethiopia-but based out of Oakland-K1ngSam has always had a passion for entertaining whether it was his involvement in the gaming scene with his youtube commentaries and live streams, to his rising career as an independent artist.
Before gentrification revitalized Oakland into the highly desirable area that many want to call home, there were a lot of setbacks for kids growing up in Oakland. Whether it was the high murder rates, easy accessibility to fire arms and drugs, and a lack of support in the education system to encourage kids to have higher aspirations, it was difficult to go against the mold.
K1ngSam uses that upbringing to illustrate stories that mirror his influences such as J.Cole and Tupac. Many of his themes range from personal stories highlighting his struggles with depression and insecurities to idealistic stories of him eventually finding a significant other.
