KALI

Born in Nairobi, Kenya, R&B singer/songwriter KALI brings her nostalgic sound to the music scene that captivates her audience with clarity and heartfelt lyrics. She graduated from AIM (The Australian Institute of Music), where she majored in Contemporary Vocal Performance and was soon after discovered from the independent label Soulcafe Music Entertainment.

Growing up in a musical family she started singing at an early age participating in her first musical in kindergarten where she had her first solo. Since then, in her mid-teens, she uncovered songwriting skills and developed them as a tool to express herself and used music as a form of therapy to go through middle and high school. In school, she tried to be around music as much as she could by joining the choir, playing the flute in the high school band, being the co-president of the composers club, studying International Baccalaureate (IB) music and doing private vocal and piano lessons outside of school.

Having been brought up on artists such as Jojo, Jhene Aiko, and Tori Kelly, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Brandy, KALI’s music is heavily neo-soul influenced and draws from R&B, Jazz and other genres of music. She has a vision to create music for all audiences that is relatable, honest and will be a reflection of her life and experiences.
