I Kalpana Patowary born in Barpeta Assam to folksinger late Bipin Patowary and Srimati Jaymati Patowary, took first music lessons from my father and accompanied him in public concerts when I was 4 year old. I graduated in English literature from Cotton College Guwahati and obtained Sangeet Visharad in hindustani classical music from Bhatkhande mahavidyalaya Lucknow.I relocated to Mumbai and acquired mastery in vocal under Bharatratna Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. I recorded for All India Radio and Doordarshan.Iam dedicatedly preserving socio-reforming folk art of Bhikhari Thakur, cultural legacy rooted in Bihar. My international collaboration album Voyage 2, was submitted for consideration at 67th Grammy Awards in Global Music Performance category.I performed more than 16,000 songs in 30 Indian vernaculars,preserving India’s linguistic heritage.My commitment to reviving endangered languages is evident in my work in Deori,Bodo,Brajavali dialects which highlights India's rich linguistic diversity.Iam a pioneering female to perform and document Chhaprahiya Purvi,a genre earlier associated with male artistry.I performed in prestigious platform of MTV Coke Studio presenting Khadi Birha.I was invited by ICCR to Guyana Trinidad Suriname.I playbacked for bollywood films Welcome,R Rajkumar and Vidya Balan’s Begum Jaan,music directed by Anu Malik. This Mahakumbh I released ‘Gangasnan’ with legendary Louiz banks.I worked on Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘Champaran Satyagraha.’
