Born and raised in Winston-Salem,NC KamDoja fittingly describes herself as “an artist by every sense of the means.” Music is no stranger to KamDoja, it has always come naturally as she loves sounds and songs. She also comes from a family of talented musicians and singers. Her mother, grandmother, and great aunts are all singers, and her uncles are musicians talented in various instruments. Listening to her smooth and soulful voice, it is no surprise that she is inspired by a diverse group of many of the greats such as, Erykah Badu, Beyoncé, Nina Simone, Macy Gray, James Brown, Jill Scott, Little Richard, Outkast, Earth Wind and Fire, Kirk Franklin, Nicki Minaj, Lauryn Hill, an Missy Elliott.
KamDoja’s first song was, “Sweet Tea.” Ft Unique. This was the track that captured the attention of her listeners. She went on to record her second release titled, “Lotta Love”. As expected, her second song release caught the attention of more listeners, particularly overseas and London.
Her highly anticipated Project, “Daughter of Cool” has dropped! She describes it as “an artistic piece.” “Super raw”! “ I talk about coming to terms with who I know I am, not how others view me. It’s unapologetic, and since I was created from the stars nobody can tell me that I’m not one”. Undergoing many transformations, as we all do, KamDoja has learned to celebrate every version of herself, especially in music!
