Born in Montreal to parents from the Dominican Republic but claiming Quebec City as his hometown, Kappo Kurtis is a hip-hop artist who brings all of his cultural influences to his music.
Kappo’s first steps in music were in high school. He was part of a hip-hop boy band that won a lot of talent shows and which gathered tremendous buzz in their hometown by performing regularly. After high school everyone took different paths and Kappo found himself going solo. His solo career did good as he did a lot of shows, hosted at nightclubs every weekend and gained decent attention. He opened for a lot of mainstream artists and even performed in New York City, a first for a rapper coming from a small french speaking city.
In 2015, he literally disappeared. Social media accounts deleted, music erased from everywhere and he wasn’t seen in public anymore. He reappeared in early 2020 with his comeback single Life’s Too Short.
His music is a carousel of sad, happy, motivational and dancing songs going from straight hip-hop to dancehall and latin vibes. Even though his musical spectrum is large, you will always be able to tell when a Kappo Kurtis song is playing due to the special touches he gives them.
His goal is to be the first artist from Quebec to make it big in the industry all while carrying his Caribbean roots on his back and making positive impacts in the world.
