Founder of the sub genre ‘Fuck-you Soul’, Kate Bond is a Yorkshire girl, born and bred in Bradford, whose musical influence comes from her punk-rocker mum and Jazz musician dad. Growing up she always wanted to be a singer, so much so she often dressed up as Lady Gaga on non-uniform days and performed emotional renditions of poker face at the local fait.
Bursting into the East London music scene with her Female Neo-Soul band in early February, she has proven that she can fill a room in London, Leeds and Newcastle through her DIY Divide and Rule tour, which shines true her philosophy of ‘Just do it and see what happens’.
‘Seeping with the mind-stroking tendencies of neo-soul soundscapes, the track swells with sparkling synths and vintage reverbs — marrying old-school soul and modern pop in a unique partnership. Totally unafraid to stride clear of the status quo, “We Just Want To Be Loved” is an angsty exploration of women’s true desires — making for a difficult-to-hear yet beautifully poignant effort.’ - WONDERLAND MAGAZINE
"When I heard this song, it stopped me in my tracks. Absolute top tier!"- Gemma Bradley, BBC Radio 1 (Beauty Sleep by Kate Bond)
“Such a powerful tune”- Emily Pilbeam, BBC Radio 6 music (Yasmine by Kate Bond)
“What a bloody banger”- her mum
