Kate Kelly grew up on the Gulf Coast of Alabama, exploring its shores and wetlands. As a high school student, she met a music teacher who helped her transform journal entries into songs. The natural process of creating something beautiful from the mud of life resonated with Kate at a young age. She was inspired to move to Nashville to pursue a music therapy degree and to write and play songs.
Kate Kelly began sharing her remedies in 2016 with her debut EP New Heartbeat. In 2018 she released her first full-length record The Wonder Of It All. More recently, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kelly felt long-lost stories of her life bubble to the surface of her consciousness. During lockdowns and quarantines, she began processing the diagnosis of an anxiety disorder, the loss of a best friend to mental illness, the terms of a current relationship, and the tenderness of life. One by one, new songs started emerging, collectively forming her upcoming EP, “Six Little Islands”, that is to be released late summer 2022. Kelly is releasing singles from this body of work, beginning with the uplifting tune, “A Beautiful Thing”.
