A contemporary gospel vocalist who also writes, arranges, produces, and has served as a choir director, Kathy Taylor (alternately Kathy Brown and Kathy Taylor-Brown) came up through Rev. James Cleveland's Gospel Music Workshop of America. Featured as a soloist on several GMWA recordings of the late '80s and early '90s, Taylor went on to release a handful of her own albums, some through her own Katco label. Kathy Taylor & the Choraleers' He's Worthy and What Would It Profit Me to Gain the Whole World and Lose My Soul? are among her earlier recordings. Taylormade, credited to Kathy Taylor-Brown, followed on the Aleho label in 1999. It reached number 22 on Billboard's Gospel chart and was nominated for a Stellar Award. Live: The Worship Experience peaked at number six and crossed into the Billboard 200 immediately after its 2009 release. In 2013, The Classic Praise of Kathy Taylor gathered highlights that spanned her entire career. The same year, as minister of music for Windsor Village United Methodist Church in her native Houston, Texas, she presented the compilation Spirit of a Grateful People. Another solo album, Right Now, followed in 2016. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
