From the likes of A.R Rahman to Harris Jayaraj, South Indian film composers were pivotal in shaping his palette as a young boy. However, after practicing the traditional Indian Carnatic artform, Kayar developed a disliking to it and found himself gravitating to the lyrical, acoustic richness of John Mayer, Ed Sheeran & Jason Mraz. His first release, ‘The Blue EP’, aptly upheld the intention of becoming a sensitive, introspective singer-songwriter-producer.

His sound began incorporating elements of his R&B and hip-hop influences, demonstrated in his 2016 release ‘80/20 EP’. Kayar subsequently released back-to-back EP’s in 2018 (‘Syphon’ and ‘Habits’), in which the influence of the Australian scene seeps through. With the impending lockdowns of 2020, he embarked on a self-imposed apprenticeship, releasing a new song every ten days. This period saw him release 53 singles in just over 18 months.

In February 2024, Kayar released his first Tamil song ‘iravin’, an afro and dance influenced production that fuses both Tamil and English lyrics with earwormy melodies. This release marked a new chapter in his career as he began the transition into being a multilingual, fusion artist. His follow-up single ‘nee dhaane’ was released in June 2024.

Today, his music has amassed over 9 million streams worldwide, and continues to grow across all digital platforms with songs like Butterflies (3,000,000+ streams), The Rising Sun (2,000,000+ streams) and Super Glue (600,000+ streams).
