Kevin Healy may have been born and raised in San Antonio, TX, but every other part of his journey to music is an anomaly. After being classically trained in piano since the age of three and first picking up a guitar and writing songs in high school, Healy finished his first set of demos while working as a biomedical engineer on brain machine interfaces in Melbourne, Australia.
Upon returning home, Healy was at a crossroads in his life, and deferred a career in music to commission in the Navy and become a pilot. After graduating from flight school, Healy conducted drug interdiction and maritime reconnaissance missions in El Salvador and Italy respectively flying the P8 Poseidon. As a result of his experiences in the Navy, Healy developed a deep mistrust for the military’s senior leadership. After counseling with close confidants, Healy determined that he could not reconcile further service with his oath of office and submitted a letter of resignation.
Shortly thereafter, Healy built a studio in a spare bedroom to write and produce his debut LP. Featured in it are songs of triumph, heartbreak, patience, and grit that he has experienced while traveling nearly every corner of the globe.
Healy embodies the fiercely independent yet good humored spirit of Texan culture that is so often used as a novelty today. Each song is an attempt to express the conquests and struggles that we all experience in our adventures.
