Kevin Montgomery was born in Nashville. His father, Bob Montgomery, co-wrote hits for Buddy Holly, while his mother sang with Elvis Presley on Suspicious Minds, In the Ghetto, and Kentucky Rain, as well as Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline. With a lineage like that, Montgomery seemed destined for music.
On the heels of Montgomery’s A&M Records debut, Fear Nothing, he toured with Sheryl Crow, David Crosby, Peter Himmelman, among others.
Blending Americana, country-rock, and folk, Montgomery’s songwriting is raw, melodic, and deeply personal. His albums Fear Nothing (A&M Records), Another Long Story, True, and Some Comfort showcase his signature storytelling. But it was on the road where he built his following, touring as Kevin Montgomery and the Roadtrippers with Robert Reynolds and Paul Deakin of The Mavericks and steel guitarist Al Perkins (Rolling Stones, Gram Parsons, Eagles).
His song Tennessee Girl, featuring Trisha Yearwood, hit #8 on CMT Australia’s charts. He dueted with Mary-Chapin Carpenter on Wishing for Not Fade Away – Remembering Buddy Holly (Decca Records) and contributed harmonies to Lee Ann Womack’s I Know Why the River Runs on I Hope You Dance. As a songwriter, he penned I Won’t Close My Eyes for Martina McBride’s quadruple-platinum Evolution.
Recently, Montgomery co-wrote Come to Mine with Beth Nielsen Chapman and Graham Gouldman of 10cc and writes with and produces country artist Michael Scott Boudreaux -"I want a girl that likes to fish" is out now.
