Music has always been a means to escape reality for Steez who developed his love for writing using his words to describe testing relationships, insecurities, and other challenging struggles in life. Growing up in a music-orientated household, his first music taste began listening to his step-dad’s vinyl collection, in addition to his Mothers love for 80’s pop. Citing the likes of Shania Twain, Tiffany and Michael Jackson as his earliest muses, Steez quickly understood the importance of expressing himself in order to develop his already-flamboyant character.
During his early teens, he became a linchpin in a thriving skate scene in his hometown, subconsciously immersing himself in a culture married to hip-hop. This seamlessly kickstarted his pursuit of music, and with his prospering demos circulating amongst his peers, soon later a wider network began to support his sound. A defining moment for Steez was becoming a first-time father in 2019, and today his son Rafael is a leading contributor to his varied palette of influences.
Over the last year, the Derby native started to release his own music, giving us two singles ‘Born To Create’ and ‘6ONKICKS’ which received coverage from the likes of Mixtape Madness and The Pit Ldn. As he continues to build momentum, KidSoSteez will be releasing his debut-EP later this year in collaboration with Ted Loco (Kamakaze, Eyez, Ashbeck).
