Folk Music (not only) For Children. One of the Most Popular Hungarian Band for Children
If you look at old photos, listen to old music on a cassette player, try on your grandmother's old clothes, or wear your grandfather's pocket watch, then you are on a similar path as the Kolompos band. They also listened to a lot of old Hungarian and Carpathian Basin folk music, then played them on authentic folk instruments, got acquainted with old songs, customs and games, dreamed all this up for the stage, spiced it up with a good dose of humour, and soon became the cheers of thousands of families.
Kolompos started performing in front of children's audiences in the 90s, first only in kindergartens and schools, and today they are welcome performers at festivals, theatres and cultural centres, because when they take the stage, the magic begins It is a time travel to a wonderful, fabulous world that no longer exists, when letters were written on paper, when there was no sound and light technology, only loud bands and candlelight balls; when water was drawn from wells and when people didn't chat on social media or phones but met in person, made friends, and didn't just hug each other in emoji.
Kolompos presents this feeling of life at their concerts in the language of children with lots of games, humor, dance, and interactivity. Although the songs, games, and tales are performed in Hungarian, often non-Hungarians are captured by the beauty and diversity of Hungarian folk music.
