The saxophone quartet is primarily perceived as a classical jazz formation, and secondly as a sound body for arrangements of baroque and classical pieces. A third and particularly interesting way is practiced by the Swiss Konus Quartet, which is dedicated to a radically contemporary version of playing on four saxophones.

As a chamber music ensemble with a changeable line-up, the Konus Quartet has been inspiring with expressive and unconventional sounds since 2003.
