Kryptan is an atmospheric black metal band from Sweden that aims to deliver an eclectic, modern take on the genre.
Founded in early 2020, right at the beginning of the global pandemic, Kryptan took shape to embody the passion for the more sinister scapes of music that songwriter and guitarist Mattias Norrman (October Tide, ex-Katatonia) harboured for decades.
Joined by long-time friend Alexander Högbom (October Tide), the duo draws inspiration from the raw aggression and eerie mood of the 90s era of Scandinavian black metal, as well as the merciless cold of the north, the state of the world and inner darkness.
The band is supported on stage and in the studio by Victor Parri (Valkyrja, Isole) and Mikael Hanni (Disrupted).
