Kurt Reston

What started as a solo project started by Kurt Reston (vocals/rhythm guitar) quickly turned into a full band affair once he and Matt Nozetz (drums) jammed for the first time in their hometown of Montreal. Their instant chemistry took over and inspired them to kick the project into the next gear. Shortly after releasing their first demos, they were set to play their first show at Canadian Music Week in Toronto. They put out an ad online looking for a bassist which was answered within minutes by Peter Powers (bass). The trio went on to record their first EP with the help of guitarist Alex Remington (from <a href="spotify:artist:7gGjxniWt0ovSoAY7440o1" data-name="Group Project">Group Project</a>) playing leads. The EP was produced/mixed by Matt Nozetz at his studio, Avbury Studios, in Montreal. Influenced by bands such as <a href="spotify:artist:6FBDaR13swtiWwGhX1WQsP" data-name="blink-182">blink-182</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7jy3rLJdDQY21OgRLCZ9sD" data-name="Foo Fighters">Foo Fighters</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:7oPftvlwr6VrsViSDV7fJY" data-name="Green Day">Green Day</a>, Kurt Reston adds their own twist on the pop rock genre thanks to the different musical backgrounds of the band members. Kurt was greatly inspired by his uncle <a href="spotify:artist:4RwwpprdAOH5gNlsJDa5Dw" data-name="John Kastner">John Kastner</a> (<a href="spotify:artist:1TP5AaOJJValTpex8pinwd" data-name="Doughboys">Doughboys</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4giroKQO39WiF5ApgJ6XA2" data-name="All Systems Go!">All Systems Go!</a>) who was a pioneer of the punk rock scene in Canada in the 80s and early 90s and continues to manage bands such as <a href="spotify:artist:34PLzyi7CdXUekiLHYyqXq" data-name="Men Without Hats">Men Without Hats</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6w7fc6IZlo5zwBaKT5jU1X" data-name="The Lemonheads">The Lemonheads</a>. Kurt grew up listening to his uncle&#39;s music and watching him perform around the world which inspired him to begin writing his own music.
