The self proclaimed godson of folk & soul, known professionally as Kwesi Foraes, is an American singer-songwriter born in Long Beach, CA and living in LA. At 22, he released his self-produced debut EP, 27, recorded in 1 month in a infamous metal studio in Laguna Hills, CA. Which garnered attention from publications like NPR, The Fader, Vice, and shout-outs from Ray Colbert (Amy Winehouse’s Manager) and Damien Rice’s management team.
In the middle of getting ready to start his first live shows, Foraes’ mother was diagnosed with cancer; Foraes decided to take time off and focus on family while trying to figure out his next move musically.
He got back to writing full-time a couple of years later and began songwriting sessions with upcoming folk & soul acts. Foraes then landed a distribution deal with UMG that would help redirect and sharpen his skills as a writer even more.
Now returning for air and starting from scratch, he will be releasing 3 projects in installments named Trinity 1,2 & 3. The project is inspired by his Native American heritage, body-mind-spirit, a belief in osteopathic principles, and shamanism. Foraes brings a visceral perspective of lost love, spirituality, and morality as a vessel through soulful rock and folk with smoky Americana blues undertones.
