Based in Dallas, Texas, regional Mexican group La Energía Norteña play romantic norteño music, with accordion and saxophone -- a popular style in the Mexican states of Chihuahua and San Luis Potosí. They formed in 2010 and played weddings and quinceañeras. In 2011, they won a local talent contest that paved the way for their commercial recording debut, the single "Te Recordare" on <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Fonovisia%22">Fonovisia</a>'s <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Azteca+Records%22">Azteca Records</a>. They continued playing regional fairs -- state, county, and city, and weddings and private parties. They also continued releasing singles and videos, and contributed tracks to various-artists compilations, expanding their fan base and popular profile.

In 2013, their debut album, Sin Restricciones, was issued by <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Azteca%22">Azteca</a>. It didn't chart but it did receive substantial radio play and enabled them to perform a live unplugged concert on television. Their second album, 2014's Cruzando Territorio, reached number five on the Top Latin Albums charts. The group began touring the American Southwest and the northern states of Mexico, drawing larger and larger crowds.

In July of 2015, they issued the pre-release single "Me Dejaste Solo," which peaked in the Top 30 of the Mexican Regional Songs chart, and followed it with the album El Rompecabezas, which garnered the band not only another charting single in "Malditos Sentimientos," but the number two spot on the Mexican Regional Albums charts and a Latin Grammy nomination. They toured hard, almost incessantly, until re-entering the studio in the spring of 2016. The pre-release single "Hoy Ma Tocer Pender" was issued in August and was followed by the album No Hay Quinto Malo in late October. La Energía Norteña resumed their rigorous touring schedule in 2017 and appeared on the compilations 12 Romanticas con Sax, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Before year's end, the band issued a pre-release You Tube video featuring the title track from El Sueño Americano performed live in the street. In March, "Despedida de Soltera" was issued as an official single; it reached number 28 on the Regional Mexican Airplay charts. The group barnstormed across North America to prepare the way for the album release. On April 4, two days before El Sueño Americano was released, La Energia Norteña's equipment was stolen from a trailer after a concert in Dallas, Texas. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
