The band was formed alongside Mexico City's local Balkan beat scene, a movement inspired in the music and aesthetics of Eastern Europe. It began as a DJ-guitar-percussion trio and most of its repertoire were live remixes, with few original tracks. Eventually two clarinet players joined the band, as well as a second percussion player and a VJ.
Their version of <a href="spotify:artist:1GWIM6dszee3LCMSlkWvfG" data-name="Panoptica Orchestra">Panoptica Orchestra</a>'s <a href="spotify:track:606QKDTO7nV2wGFkE6Xt6J" data-name="Pico Selector (Internacional Sonora Balkanera Version)">Pico Selector (Internacional Sonora Balkanera Version)</a>, woke the Tijuana musician's interest to produce the band's self titled debut.
In 2011 the band acquired notoriety after playing in important events such as Glastonbury Festival, Vive Latino and Cumbre Tajín. Since then, they have performed throughout Mexico, as well as in London, Barcelona, Washington, Tampere, and New York.

Their first album (<a href="spotify:album:1Nt0ZmCKiQouyrX5EQz7O7" data-name="La Internacional Sonora Balkanera">La Internacional Sonora Balkanera</a>), produced by Panóptica (Roberto Mendoza), won an Indie-O Music Award.
In 2013 their second album, <a href="spotify:album:6h7PvcITBCJ0CKBmksXwG4" data-name="Balkanazo Tropical">Balkanazo Tropical</a>, was released under the indie label Casete Upload, founded and co-directed by Camilo Lara, a.k.a. <a href="spotify:artist:4TPTW3cTwUtiihgOMSQfmy" data-name="Mexican Institute Of Sound">Mexican Institute Of Sound</a>.
Their third album, <a href="spotify:album:0k3EsxNDJTIJtI44S8a6XD" data-name="Etno Pachanga Sound System">Etno Pachanga Sound System</a>, funded by the Mexican Endowment for the Arts, was released in 2016.
